Firefighters shouldn't have been singled out in letter

Thursday, July 27, 2006 10:16 AM EDT

This time I believe Jerry Morgan has gone too far.
First of all, why only the firefighters?

I find it hard to believe he's never seen a police car, sheriff car, NYSEG or Verizon vehicle at a restaurant, local sporting event or some other inappropriate place.

I don't point this out as criticism - as a former Verizon employee, I tolerated the disgusted looks for years while I was on my legal coffee break or lunch hour.

Due to the needs of the business, you can't always use your personal vehicle.

If my house was on fire during that party, I would prefer the trucks were right there - no time wasted going back to the station.

Secondly, the most upsetting part of his letter to me was his withholding of the Petrosino name.

I'm sure he knew he couldn't stir as many people up if they knew who the party was for.

Anyone that knows what this family has recently been through, was glad to see her dad's friends there, showing their love and support.

Most of all, reminding her how proud her dad is that she held it together and graduated and accomplished all he and her mom could ever want.

But then, most of us let our hearts enter into our thought process.

" Although the intentions of the AFD were good it was still wrong to go on company time especially with the overtime crisis they have put us in. Jerry may not have been politically correct but he had the intestinal fortitude to bring this to light. I do not believe Jerry's intentions were to hurt the Petrosino family. My heart goes out to them for having to go through this. WAKE UP AFD YOUR WORKING IN A FISHBOWL AND WE ARE ALL WATCHING!! "

" Was he driving a state vehicle? Or was he driving his own car? Was he going into work or was he on his way home? The bottom line is you and you like are trying to justfy the actions of the FD. It is wrong period. You see I don't have to twist anything, I presented the facts, you people are attempting to twist them. Have a nice day! "

" Let's be honest here. It's Morgan, the man who finds fault with everything. If he was as good as he thinks he is the people would of voted him in office long ago. Hey, guess what? I saw a guy in a prison guard uniform at McDonlads yesterday. Why wasn't he at work? See Morgan the twist can be put on any profession. "
