A large-scale drug bust by a multiple agency force began in Cayuga County Wednesday morning.

Alshadeem Brown is escorted out of 69 Chapman Ave. by Auburn Police officers Greg Gilfus and Tim Cottrell Wednesday morning. Police say Brown is accused of helping to lead a drug ring in Auburn and the surrounding area distributing ecstasy and cocaine.
Officers from the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force, among other agencies, began executing 35 felony arrest warrants.

One drug ring was centralized in northern Cayuga County, police said. This ring is accused of obtaining cocaine from New York City and distributing it in and around Cayuga County, they said. Seventeen arrest warrants have been issued related to this ring's activity.

Another drug ring distributed cocaine and ecstasy in Auburn and surrounding towns, police said. Fifteen arrest warrants have been issued related to this ring's activity.

During these joint investigations, police seized four pounds of cocaine, one hundred ecstasy pills, at least $8,500 in cash, five handguns and one assault weapon, police said.

The arrest warrants are being executed by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force -- made up of the Auburn Police Department and the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office -- the New York State Police, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Marshals, the New York State Parole Division and the New York State Attorney General's Office.

" To these 35 fine citizens apprehended in the recent drug raids, look on the bright side. If convicted, you probably won’t be drafted in time of war. Are you unconscious objectors? “You can get anything you want at Alice’s restaurant.” - Arlo Guthrie. Now get your litter out of MY community! "

" It’s their own fault that they where arrested. Honestly, how sloppy do you have to be as a drug dealer to sell hardcore drugs in large amounts in a small hick town like Auburn? If you want to sell big time you have to do it big time in a big city. Not a rural community where you can walk from one side to the other in a hour. They were just asking to get caught. "

" The drug bust is not just one race, just because the picture has a black man does not mean that everyone that is arrest is black. Also lets remember that there were snitches and addicits involved, and I know for sure that they are not "black" "

" Drug bust, please the people of Auburn are so backwards. You guys are all congratulating APD for a job well done. You call taking down a small group of people that use for recreation a major crime bust. Out a 35 arrest 34 are just normal people, people that you find yourself next to in the grocery store, not criminals or thiefs or any kind of threat to society. Most likely you see the age range from 20yrs - 30yrs just trying to have a good time in Auburn cause there sure the hell isn't anything else to do. So we spent all that money to catch a bunch of young adults who happen to be doing some drugs, whoooopppiiiieee give yourselves a pat on the back boys in blue, know wonder why you dept is broke. The last thing I have to say is about the casino, I know that it would be nice to have prospects of huge corporation like Intel,GM, AT&T come here but it's New York State, even worse upstate, you be lucky to get some kind of industry there. So once again APD great job at rounding up the users, maybe you guys should start a rehab program to get some of the money back. "

" I see a lot of the comments are saying good job APD. Don't believe the hype! I think that it's are duty as good law abiding citizen to help the people in the struggle. Yeah they may have recovered 8,500 dollars. But that doesn't sound like a lot to me. Being that they said these were major drug dealers? When is the majorty of the people going to realize that these so called big bust are only to manupilate the people that can't see the bigger picture. Ask yourself how much money did the police spend for that investagation? Majority of those drug offenders are in poverty, and will rely on a court appointed attorney. A waste of the people tax paying dollar to house them on the county and state jail. If the government really wanted to stop s msjority the drug traffic flow in the country they could. It's all about poltic as usual. "

How about a rehab in Auburn for the users. Take that 8500$ and put it towards a rehab not back out on the streets or paying your cowardley SNITCHES......... "
