Two Cents

Try everything for Barbaro. We love him, give him a chance.
Indy car driver Ed Carpenter recently made some very brilliant and profound observations on women athletes. Everyone should listen to him.

I base my tipping in a restaurant on how good the service is that I receive.

Here we go again, more tax money being spent on artificial turf we don't even need.

People fighting for their lives all over American in hospitals and homes and all the liberal TV media wants to talk about is the condition of that horse Barbaro. Who cares.

" Many thanks to the Citizen, Nucor, the city, the county and all other supporters for giving Auburn a lovely evening of music performed by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. They played before nearly a thousand people in Auburn High School - after moving inside, still had nearly a packed house! "

" Wake up Auburn! The Artificial Turf is just another ploy the Auburn Board of Education will use to spend its way to the top of the heap. Ask Mike Sterns why the Board of Education didn't want the turf paid for by a soft drink company. We could have had a million dollar field for nothing but the board said NO! Well it is time we said no! STAR OR NO STAR enough is enough! "

" Billy Kufs is right on the mark with all of his "anonymous" NY Yankees bashing in the Two Cents columns. And the conspiracy goes even further! Did you know that MLB makes the Red Sox play their games with one hand tied behind their backs?? And yet they STILL are in first place! And did you know that the Yankees are secretly provided by MLB with powerful, futuristic bats designed by NASA that can hit a ball twice as far as a normal bat? And still they're behind the valiant Red Sox! Keep tellin it like it is, Billy!! Red Sox Nation loves ya! "

" MARKETING, that is the name of the game. If turf stadium is a given, then the School Board MUST market their assets on what the district facilities offer to help support their budget needs. i.e. Cafeteria's-- use them as catering facilities. Auditoriums--rent them out to organization, so that they can bring in up coming acts for fund raisers. Stadium-- try to get college sports events scheduled there. Bottom line-- MARKET YOUR ASSETS-- because the community then will feel they are living in an live community, not an over taxed one and under used. "

" Relax... Barbaro is a momentary relief from all the disgusting, miserable things that occur in this world every day. Everyone, yes everyone, is well-aware of all the problems in this world. So, as a Conservative, I suggest that instead of taking this brief, much needed mental break from so many caring Americans, including Vets I might add, say a prayer for the horse and even more prayers for folks in this country and others who are suffering due to greed, a lust for power and money, and mostly indifference towards making things change. "

" And we love animals too. That horse has personality plus and survived the first hurdle in an injury which he never would have survived a hundred years ago. He has captured the hearts of people all over the world. It doesn't mean we don't care about human suffering, but people love animals and it's not a bad thing. You can often tell what kind of person someone is by how they treat animals. My mom says anyone who doesn't like cats has some kind of personality defect, no matter how fine a person they are otherwise -- and I agree. You know, last summer I read "The Things They Carried" -- a semi-fictional, semi-sort-of-real account of one man's experiences in Vietnam, and led a discussion of the book with a group of freshmen college students. In that group, as in other individuals and groups who have read the book, for all the horror described in the rest of the story, the one that disturbed people the most was one of deliberate torture and cruelty to a trusting, innocent animal. Animals are often like children to us -- they are dependent on our kindness, so an abuse of our position towards them -- children or animals -- is all the more reprehensible. So, we love animals. That's a GOOD thing. Sometimes a person somewhere captures our hearts too, but this time it was a horse, a fine, fast, wonderful animal, full of life and personality and talent, cut down in his prime like an Olympic athlete who loses a leg just before his event -- we have sympathy and concern in our hearts. Do you people really just write such provactive statements to get the ire of readers and boost the amount of posting on your forum pages? That's how it reads to me.... "

" What's the deal with Walmart? 30+ chech out isles and less than 10 open at any given time. Guess they don't care if we have to wait since they figure they got the business all locked up. Too bad, back to Wegmans for me. I appreciate Wegman's concern for customers having to wait in line. They have a person stationed at the check out directing customers to isles to get people out fast. Walmart's arrogance has lost them my business! "

" If the students want "Turf" let them work and save for it. It may take a few years, but it's been without it for many more. "

" We do not need turf nor Plume or the School Board. The taxpayers need to wise up to the games they play. Sneak through a budget and then bring up the turf. "
