Attorney Van Sickle met with a painful accident at the lake last Friday evening. He and his family arrived at the Knapp-Payne cottage on the east side of the lake and while engaged in opening the cottage, Mr. Van Sickle struck his head with a force sufficient to break his glasses, severely lacerating one eyelid.

MENTZ - As a crowd of some 30 angry residents stood
outside in the parking lot, the town board quickly moved through its agenda of bills, balances and board reports. It took a “state of emergency” and the presence of a sheriff's deputy, but last night the Mentz board finished a meeting with calm and deliberation. On Monday, Supervisor William L. Jones,
citing the ongoing pattern of disruptions that have plagued the town's recent meetings, invoked a little used executive law to declare a “local state of emergency.”
