Come home to Conquest July 29

Our fourth annual Conquest Community Picnic is on Saturday, July 29. We will begin gathering at 4 p.m. and eat at 5 p.m. We are fortunate to have been able to book our favorite musicians -Bone and Doolittle. They will begin playing at about 5 p.m. Hot dogs, lemonade, coffee and popcorn will be provided, and we ask that you bring a dish to pass and your own table service.
Our newest acquisition to the Bob Howell Recreation field is a volleyball court. How about christening it with some challenges - Teens vs. Twenties? The Class of 2006 (there are lots of you in the town that we are so proud of!) vs. the Class of 2005/4/3? Over 40s vs. Under 40s?

We have had a great turnout for the past three picnics. So, round up your family and come and enjoy our wonderful facilities! We would like to be able to settle on an “every year” weekend. What do you think of the last Saturday in July? Please let Tom Kincaid, Evie Waterman or me know.

If you would like to share your hobby, please call me at 776-4726, and we will provide table space for your display. Baseball cards, salt and peppershakers, old linens, barbed wire styles - we know there are lots of you with creative collections!

We will be recognizing our newest/oldest residents. Last year we welcomed Barb and Les Brown, and we honored Chuck and Caroline Roberts who have lived in our town for 70 years.

Wouldn't it be great to see how many members of one family would show up? Or who would come the furthest to reconnect with Conquest friends? How many four generation families can we celebrate?

What is your favorite memory of Conquest? Did you camp out with the Boy Scouts? Was it playing baseball? A Conquest Rural Fair memory? Dancing at the Teen Canteen? Helping build our new bathrooms? Did you attend hymn sings at one of our churches? Did you go to Jenda's Pumpkin fields? Go swimming in or camping at Duck Lake? Do you have Grange memories to share? Maybe you would like to bring some captionless pictures and someone could help you identify some of the folks.
