The story of Pink Rose at the Rescue Mission, 72 State St., was
a great success financially. The mission hall was packed. It was decorated beautifully with pink crepe paper, beautiful flowers and potted plants.

Because of recurring problems with city residents violating
the trash ordinances - putting trash out at the wrong time
or on the wrong day - lawmakers will consider beefing up
regulations and fines. As the law now stands, residents must put out trash in clear plastic bags or covered metal containers and no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection.

Staffing problems continue to plague Mercy Health and
Rehabilitation Center. The nursing home located at 3 St. Anthony St., fired two more nurse's aides last week and more are quitting in response to mandated overtime scheduling,
say some of the affected employees. The state department of health inspected the facility last week as part of its annual review. Two previous complaints about Mercy were rolled
into the annual inspection, according to health department spokesman Rob Kenny.
