I can understand bans on smoking in places where children are allowed. But ban smoking in places where children aren't allowed anyway? It should be up to the owner and/or the bartender. If they/he/she agree, what's the problem? Patrons still have the option of going to a smoking or non-smoking bar.

I know for a fact that Costello's in Auburn isn't the only bar that allows smoking. Costello's is being singled out by a couple of neighborhood do-gooders - or could it be jealousy?

Whatever happened to the “will of the people,” the will of the individual? We are not sheep, you know. We don't all dance to the same tune. I don't smoke, but I support Patty Glanville's rights and the rights of her patrons.

Perhaps she should take her little corner business, declare it a sovereign nation, and refuse to pay taxes. Oops, I forgot, she's the wrong color.
