A Clyde man has been charged with the Friday lunch-hour robbery of Savannah National Bank on Main Street in Savannah.
Brett D. Shaffer, 18, was arrested Monday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. He has been charged with the felonies of third-degree robbery and fourth-degree grand larceny.
Shaffer is believed to have acted alone, authorities said. The robbery occurred around 12:40 p.m. Friday afternoon.
The sheriff's office said Shaffer is accused of handing a teller a note stating he had a gun and wanted money. The teller set down some money, but before reaching for more, Shaffer allegedly grabbed a handful of what was there and the note and left the bank. No weapon was displayed.
Shaffer was arraigned in Savannah Town Court. His bail was set at $30,000 cash or $60,000 bond.
