The Citizen staff report
Brian Bull didn't allow a hit through four innings, Brian Hall and Shawn Scobee each had two-out RBIs in the first inning, and the Auburn Doubledays never trailed on their way to a 4-1 win over the Williamsport Crosscutters at Bowman Field Monday.
Hall's first home run of the season, over the left-field wall, put the Doubledays on top just three batters into the game. Luke Hopkins followed with a single, and Scobee drove him in with a double to left.
Adam Calderone tacked on another run in the fifth inning when he scored on a wild pitch after hitting a two-out triple.
Williamsport's Alexander Peralta got things warmed up at the plate in the bottom of the inning with a single to second base -- the Crosscutters' first hit of the game. Two outs and two singles later, the Croscutters had a run. Bull was pulled after 4 2-3 innings with only three hits, one earned run, three strikeouts and no walks.
The bullpen kept the Crosscutters off the scoreboard for the duration, and Jonathan Diaz scored on a Ben Zeskind triple in the ninth.
Edward Rodriuguez allowed two hits in two innings for his second save of the season.
