AUBURN -- Casey McKenzie pitched seven strong innings and Luke Hopkins hit his first professional home run as the Auburn Doubledays defeated Jamestown 5-1 on Sunday at Falcon Park.
After a Brian Hall leadoff single, Hopkins sent an 0-1 offering over the right-field fence to vault the Doubledays to a 3-1 lead in the sixth innning.
McKenzie gave up one run in the first inning but settled down and finished with four strikeouts while facing the minimum number of batters from the second inning on.
The Doubledays also sparkled in the field after two less-than-impressive defensive showing against Jamestown. Right fielder Zach Kalter threw out a runner at home in the seventh inning. On the next play, McKenzie picked off a base runner at second base.
Auburn (3-3) begins a six-game road trip today at Williamsport.
