Jump and jive at weekend jazz fest

You can jive to some great beats in Syracuse this weekend. The 24th annual edition of “The Northeast's Largest Free Jazz Fest” will be returning to the campus of Onondaga Community College for the sixth consecutive year.
The M & T Jazz Fest will be rocking with some lively soulful jazz.

The weekend will kick-off Friday with a few favorites, including the OCC Jazz Ensemble, organissimo, David ‘Fathead' Newman and The Funk Brothers.

Saturday's performers will include Nick Palumbo Dixieland Update, who also played at the Doubledays home opener Wednesday, C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band and Dr. John & The Lower 911.

Sunday's performers will conclude the weekend of jazz celebration with Coupe and Her Groovemobile, Catherine Russell, James Cotton Blues Band and The Soul Survivors.

Saturday's line-up will host a special from the local Central New York Stage, Soda Ash Six. The weekend will be jumpin' and jivin' with some incredible local talent and many fanatical jazz enthusiasts of all ages, so go join the fun. The event promises to be filled with lots of bands and performers.
