Police were searching Friday night for a man who robbed Savannah National Bank Friday.
Wayne County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Richard House said the man entered the bank at 12:40 p.m. Friday afternoon and handed a teller a note stating that he had a gun and wanted money. No weapon was displayed.

House said the teller set down a small amount of money and before the teller reached for more, the man grabbed a handful of money and the note and left the bank. On his way out, House said, the robber bumped into a customer who had just entered the bank.

The suspect left on foot southbound down Main Street.

House said the robber was a young white male with a thin mustache dressed in a brown T-shirt with a picture on the front, a white baseball cap, bluejean shorts, sneakers and aviator-type sunglasses.

Wayne County deputy George Lorenz and Sgt. Matt Ryndock used a police dog to follow the scent of the robber from bank down Main Street to an area near the intersection of Seneca Street and Route 31.

There were no witnesses to the robbery other than bank employees. House said the robber was in and out of the bank in a matter of seconds.
