HIT: A unique opportunity Sunday came about with the merger of two Montezuma tourist attractions.
The Montezuma Winery teamed with the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge as a way to show off both.
Shuttles ran back and forth between the sites, giving visitors the chance to tour the winery and the wetlands.
Other agencies also got involved to raise money and distribute information related to their causes.
HIT: The Theodore Case Film Festival gave local filmmakers an audience for their creativity.
The screenings, held at Cayuga Community College, involved 48 entries - 18 of which were produced by local eighth-grade students.
Cayuga Counseling Services started the project as a way to help young people express their views.
MISS: Two horrific accidents in Auburn Sunday appear to have been entirely preventable.
Police said extreme speed was a factor in a fatal crash on Grant Avenue in which a car hit a utility pole, and a motorcyclist who collided with a car at the intersection of West Genesee Street and Lexington Avenue had been observed by other drivers weaving in and out of traffic and moving too fast.
In addition to staying sober and using seat belts, observing the speed limit is absolutely essential.
HIT: Volunteer firefighters in Conquest, with help from the New York State Police and Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, hosted a day of fun and safety education Saturday.
In addition to activities for small children, the event showcased a mock DWI crash, investigative and arrest procedures used by police, and vehicle extrication and firefighting skills.
The Conquest Volunteer Fire Department has 25 active members who respond 24 hours a day, when someone in the community calls for help.
