Case dismissed in threat against code enforcer

by The Citizen staff report

Thursday, June 15, 2006 11:08 AM EDT

AUBURN - A man accused of threatening Auburn code enforcement officer Edward Ladouce with a hammer had charges in his case adjourned in contemplation of dismissal.
Richard Kaye, 35, of 26 Tuxill Square, Auburn, will have the misdemeanor crimes of second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and the violation charge of unlawful possession of marijuana dismissed if he stays out of criminal trouble for the next six months. He must complete 50 hours of community service and undergo a substance-abuse treatment evaluation.

Ladouce was at Kaye's residence in April to have an unregistered car parked in Kaye's yard towed by a private tow service.

Kaye was notified by a neighbor the car was being towed. He arrived in another vehicle, removed a hammer from the trunk and threatened Ladouce verbally with the hammer in hand.

" Why can't the code enforcement dept. try to help people instead of hurt them? They seem to get pleasure out of hurting people. They forget who's giving them a job and paying they're salary. Being nice is not in they're vocabulary. They should try it for a change on everyone and not on just the people they know. I for one am certianly glad that I left auburn, and took my business with me. They were a big reason for it. "

" Good for him. It's his property, he should be able to have all the cars he wants on it! "
