The Feast of St. Anthony of Padua, complete with a special Mass and a procession, comes to Auburn on Tuesday thanks to the Italian Heritage Society.
The society is sponsoring a feast celebration at St. Francis Church in an effort to revive an age-old tradition. People pray to St. Anthony for help through difficult times and to find items that are lost or misplaced.
The feast celebration will start with a Mass. The Revs. Peter DeBellis and Ralph Fraats will co-celebrate the Mass, which concludes with a procession in which a statue of St. Anthony is carried through the church and surrounding area.
The actual feast then takes place in the church hall. The menu includes pasta and a variety of specially prepared vegetables, along with salad, garlic bread and traditional desserts.
Proceeds from a $5 donation for the feast will go to the St. Anthony Orphanage.
Musical entertainment will follow the dinner.
