Judo program to be offered this summer
A summer judo program is being offered by Cayuga Community College.

Session I is going on now and runs through June 22. Classes are from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.

Session II is June 26 to Aug. 8, and is held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Physician clearance, personal health coverage and a proper uniform, which can be ordered from the instructor, are required for the course. The fee is $125 for both sessions.

The classes teach technique, history, etiquette and self defense.

Judo competition Sunday at CCC

The 28th annual Empire State Games Central Region Men's and Women's Judo Open Competition will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at Spartan Hall at Cayuga Community College. Weigh-ins will be at noon.

Sponsored by the CCC Judo Club, this event is free and open to the public. To get into the building, use the north entrance closest to the nature trail.

Owasco Flyer bike race June 25

The Owasco Flyer bicycle race will start at 10 a.m. June 25, at Emerson Park.

The race is open to all competitors, and all proceeds benefit the Auburn YMCA's summer camp program. The race is 36 miles with 14 hills and more than 1,600 feet in elevation, all within Cayuga County.

Free scuba trial

Friday at YMCA

The Auburn YMCA is offering a free scuba experience from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 9. Only a swimsuit and towel are required; the rest of the equipment will be provided.

The six-week scuba certification class will begin June 16, for those interested. Classes will comtinue on consecutive Fridays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

AHS girls lacrosse camp still open

Auburn girls lacrosse coach Amy Spin will be running two girls lacrosse camps this summer. The Auburn Little Lady Laxers Camp will take place July 24-28, from 9 a.m. to noon at Auburn High School. The camp is open for girls in first through fifth grade.

The Auburn Lady Laxers Camp will be from July 31, to Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at Auburn High School. This camp is open for girls in sixth through eighth grade.

Both camps are open to girls from beginner to advanced. Opportunities to play will be offered for all campers after the day camps have ended. Each participant will receive a pinnie, water bottle and an Auburn girls lacrosse sticker. The cost is $100.

New baseball league starting in July

The Auburn Little League Challenger League will kick off Saturday, July 8, at the Little League Fields at Emerson Park.

Applications are now available at the fields.
