Grove's opening reception Saturday
Opening reception for Grove, an art and fine furniture gallery in Aurora, will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the gallery.

Watercolor artist Margaret Manring of Skaneateles is featured in the opening show along with artwork by Karen Thomas-Lillie of Auburn, Mnetha Warren of Aurora, Edward Heiple of Moravia and furniture by Rufus Bates of Aurora.

Regular business hours will begin 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and by appointment Thursday, June 15.

Grove is located at 347 Main St., Aurora.

Key Bank to celebrate two employees

The public is invited to help celebrate two Key Bank employees' 25 years at the bank today.

The day-long open house will be held in honor of Arlene Canale and Suzanne Brown, who started their careers with Key Bank in 1981.

Canale, a relationship associate, began working for the bank as an account clerk; Brown, a client relations representative, joined the bank's customer service department 25 years ago.

The celebration will take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Auburn Key Center at 110 Genesee St.

Church sponsors monthly film series

The film, “Good Night, and Good Luck,” will be shown at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Westminster Presbyterian Church as part of Westminster's monthly Faith and Film series.

The film nights are held in the church's social room. Discussion will follow the movie.

“Good Night, and Good Luck” tells the story of newscaster Edward R. Murrow and his reporting on Sen. Joseph McCarthy's tactics during the “Red scare” in the 1950s.

County visitors group elects officers

The Cayuga County Convention and Visitors Bureau elected officers for the 2006-2007 term at its annual meeting at King Ferry Winery this week.

Four officers were elected: chairman Chuck Mason; vice chairman Steve Lynch; secretary Jackie Lewis; and treasurer Tim Fox.

Cayuga County Convention and Visitors Bureau consists of a 21-person board of directors focused on promoting the attractions, accommodations and events in Cayuga County.

Woman indicted on multiple charges

A Genoa woman has been indicted by a Cayuga County grand jury on charges accusing her of speeding from Cayuga County Sheriff's Office deputies trying to pull her over in a traffic stop and then ramming a patrol car Dec. 15.

Jennifer E. Thumm, 23, of 1361 Meyers Road, is accused of ignoring the emergency lights and siren activated by sheriff's deputies Corey Colton and Matt Hare after they observed her failing to stop at a stop sign in the vicinity of Bartnick Road.

Thumm is also accused of failing to stop at other stop signs and accelerating into the patrol car after she spun out on Bartnick Road.

Thumm faces the felony charge of second-degree criminal mischief, the misdemeanor charges of third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and reckless driving and the traffic infractions of failure to comply with a lawful order, failure to keep right, two counts of failure to stop for a stop sign and speeding.
