Even though the Jordan-Elbridge softball team has won a Section III, Class B-1 title, the Eagles need their bats to come alive again in order to qualify for the state tournament.

The team looks for its first Class B championship in more than 20 years tonight against Class B-2 champion Adirondack at Hopkins Road Park in Liverpool. Both are top seeds in their respective divisions, but even though the Eagles have not faced the Center State Conference team this season, their reputation precedes them.
“They are there in the semis or finals every year,” Jordan-Elbridge coach Joe Ryan said.
“They have a lot more experience in being in sectionals than us, but the girls are excited to be there.”
After dominating their way to 19-0 this season, the Eagles talent is no longer a secret.
Pitcher Colleen Ryan leads a very good infield that includes Ellen Dungey (catcher), Jessica Snyder (first base), Rachal Graf (second base), Cassy Hefti (third base) and Sam Kuhn (shortstop). Standout eighth-grader Elizabeth Caspari has led a solid outfield all season.
The Eagles will look to their phenomenal thrower, who averages 15 strikeouts a game for another dominating performance.
They will also rely on their powerful lineup, which has scored six runs and smashed 17 hits in their two playoff wins against Holland Patent and South Jefferson.
But despite all the wins and the overall good play this season, Joe Ryan insists his team isn't feeling a heavy amount of pressure going into tonight's game.
“They've gone further in sectionals than ever before,” Joe Ryan said. “We just need to hit the ball and play good. They're loose and we're ready.”
