Riddell nominated for board award
The Thomas Group's Russell Riddell was nominated by the Cayuga-Onondaga School Boards Association as a “Board Member of Achievement” at the Central New York School Boards Association's annual dinner on May 25 at the Springside Inn in Auburn.

The Thomas Group is one of the nation's leading K-12 design and engineering firms and Riddell, who has been with The Thomas Group for 20 years, is an associate principal and the director of security planning and design services.

Riddell has served as a board of education member in the Moravia Central School District for the past nine years, including three as president.

He has served as a member of the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Board of Education for the last six years.

Girl Scouts to offer summer camp tours

The Girl Scouts - Seven Lakes Council invites families to tour area summer camps next month.

Family Fun Nights allow visitors to get oriented to facilities, meet some summer camp staff and find out about all the fun activities staffers have planned.

Family Fun Nights are scheduled at the following centers: Yaiewano (South of Auburn on Owasco Lake), June 6; Mistly Hollow (South of Corning), June 7; Comstock (North of Ithaca on Cayuga Lake/Route 89), June 8.

All Family Fun Nights will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.

Fleming Foundation to meet tonight

The Fleming Foundation is holding its next meeting tonight.

The foundation was formed by a group of town residents trying to come up with ideas to help improve the town's image and get people to have more pride in their town.

The meeting takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the town office and all residents are urged to attend.

Valesky to serve on energy task force

State Sen. David J. Valesky, D-Oneida, will serve on a temporary task force that will ultimately advise Albany on the current state of New York's power programs.

The 11-member Commission on Power Programs and Economic Development will examine the effectiveness of programs intended to make energy more affordable for manufacturers and other businesses, as well as create jobs for New Yorkers.
