Noll, Young lead Eagles past Watertown IHC

ELBRIDGE - Eight players scored for the Jordan-Elbridge girls lacrosse team as they defeated No. 10 seed Watertown IHC 19-3 in a Section III, Class C playoff game on Wednesday.
Teri Noll and Jessica Young led the No. 7 ranked Eagles with four goals each. Noll also tossed two assists. Kaitlin Fuller and Rianne Farrugia scored three apiece and Kara Humphreys scored twice and threw an assist.

Kim Armani, Marge Bailey and Allie Raneri all scored once for the Eagles. The Cavaliers scored all of their goals in the first half on Erica Troia, who also had seven saves. Alicia Olmstead had two saves in the second half. Hannah Bailey, Rachel Jesmer, Rachel Jordan and Kim Stanton were key in the win as they all played well defensively.

“Our defense played good and this was a good win,” Eagles coach Hobie Demuth said. “The defense made it very tough to let anyone in through the middle.”

The Eagles are at No. 2 Christian Brothers Academy on Friday.

Auburn, Sixth place

FAYETTEVILLE - Missy Loperfido led the Maroons with a 98, good enough for 17th place. Marren Hunter shot a 102, Megan Cahill turned in a 112 and Christine Camardo carded a 124.

“I'm happy with their performance, it's been a great learning experience for the team,” coach Donna Goddard said. “I'm disappointed for Missy. I know she really wanted to go to states but she played really well.”

The Maroons finish the season 4-5.

Section III

Championships

CICERO - Auburn placed sixth at Cicero-North Syracuse high school as Ray Richardson was the Section III champion in the triple jump (43 - 1 3/4). Shilah Richardson, Scott Garrett, Kes Peck and Dion Brown were crowned Section III champs in the 3,200-meter relay (8:18.92).

The 400-meter relay team of Shilah Richardson, Ray Richardson, Quendell Ellison and Brown will compete at the New York State Qualifying meet on June 2 as they qualified with a time of 45.5. Also qualifying for the meet was the 1,600-meter relay team (3:33.21) of Shilah and Ray Richardson, Brown and Scott Garrett as well as Chris Mason in the 3,200-meter run and steeplechase, Corey Werner in the pole vault, and Brown and Garrett in the 800-meter run. Shilah Richardson will also be competing in the 400-meter run.

JV SOFTBALL

Skaneateles 12, Christian Brothers Academy 6

SYRACUSE - Down 5-3 going into the seventh inning, Skaneateles had a nine-run rally in the top of the inning for the win. The Lakers had 12 of their 17 hits in the last two innings and Jessica Mevec broke the game open in the final inning with a two RBI single.

Britton Webber led the Lakers with five hits, two doubles and three RBIs. Emily Devins went 3-for-3 and an RBI, Caryn Crary had three hits and Terry Blessing roped two singles and an RBI. Emily Ross pitched another complete game, fanning eight batters.

The Lakers (11-5) host Marcellus today in their final home game of the season. They finish the season at Westhill on Wednesday.
