CATO - Austin Townsend was 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBIs, and two stolen bases to lead the Cato-Meridian baseball team to a 10-2 victory over Lafayette Saturday.
T.K. Hayden was 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Donny Rodriguez was 1-for-2 with an RBI, two runs and two walks.
Paul Navarro pitched five innings and allowed just two hits and one unearned run for the win. He struck out five, walked none and hit one batter. Rodriguez, catching for just the third time all season, had an outstanding performance behind the plate.
The Blue Devils (9-6) await their sectional seed, which will come out today.
Bishop Grimes 4, Port Byron 0
PORT BYRON - The Panthers made two errors in key situations to allow four unearned runs to score, while Bishop Grimes played errorless defense. Port Byron had only two hits.
Nick Janusz pitched for the Panthers and struck out two and walked three. He also tripled at the plate, and Kevin Casler had the other hit for Port Byron.
