DRYDEN - Southern Cayuga's Chris Hilliard turned in two first-place finishes at the IAC Championships.
He won the 110 hurdles (15.4) and 400 hurdles (58.2) to help the Chiefs to a ninth-place overall finish out of 18 teams with 22 points.
Southern Cayuga's 4x100 relay team of Josh Grady, Lucas Pettit, Tony B. Rejman and Hilliard placed sixth (47.0), and so did the 4x800 relay team of Sam Fessenden, Evan Bassett, Andrew Dean and Caleb Schonfeld (9:12.0).
On the girls side, Miriam Larson-Koester set a new school record in the discus with a toss of 95 feet, 5 inches. The Chiefs were 16th overall.
For Moravia, Kerrin Epstein was the top finisher, leading the Blue Devils to a ninth-place finish with 26 points.
Epstein broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter run to take second place (11:01.5), and also took fourth in the 1,500-meter run in school-record time (5:03.3).
Amber Murphy finished third in the discus (98-6) and sixth in the shot put (31-2.5). Jen Cornwell took fourth in the shot put (31-7).
For the boys, Martin Beck was fourth in the long jump with his best showing of the season (19-4), and he also took fifth in the high jump (5-6).
Bobby Sovocool turned in a third-place finish in the shot put with his best throw of the season (44-1).
Both Southern Cayuga and Moravia will compete at the Section IV, Class C Championships Thursday at Windsor.
