Thomas tosses one-hitter, Blue Devils dominate

CATO - Ashley Thomas pitched six innings, struck out nine and allowed only one hit as Cato-Meridian defeated Manlius Pebble Hill 17-1 in a softball game Monday.

Mariah Schmitt led the offense with three hits and two RBIs while Rachael VanNorstrand, Nicole Aylesworth, Thomas, Amber Grader and Sara Peckham each had two hits. Grader and Peckham had multiple RBIs, while Brandilyn Townsend doubled.

The Blue Devils (2-10) host Bishop Grimes Wednesday.

Southern Cayuga 19, Groton 1

GROTON - Molly Osterhoudt, Cami Willis and Lyndsey Doeing each had three hits and the Chiefs doubled five times in the game.

Julie Hewitt got the win, allowing six hits in 4 2-3 innings pitched.

Southern Cayuga only had one error opposed to Groton's seven.

The Chiefs (7-2, 6-2) travel to Union Springs Wednesday.

Cazenovia 8, Skaneateles 4

CAZENOVIA - Andrea Edmunds and Kara Beuhler each had two hits and one RBI to lead the Lakers' offense but their defense committed eight errors. Cazenovia scored four runs to break the game open in the fifth inning.

Alex Hughes scattered five hits and struck out five in the loss.

Skaneateles (3-11, 3-8) hosts CBA Wednesday.

Weedsport 7, Tully 2

WEEDSPORT - Megan Henderson and Kelsey Thompson led the Warriors' offense with two hits while Keriann Earl, Ali Saladin, Heidi Robinson and Jamie Winslow each had one hit. Robinson also had two RBIs.

Weedsport's Meghan Short got the win, pitching a complete game and allowing only three hits. The Weedsport defense committed no errors.

The Warriors host Fabius Pompey Wednesday.

Union Springs 6, Lansing 4

UNION SPRINGS - Bethany Arliss, Jessica Kneaskern, Abby Cook (double), Jillian Thomas, Amanda Forney and Monica Sacco all had hits as the Wolves scored four runs in the fourth inning.

Cook got the win, pitching a complete game and striking out nine.

Union Springs (12-1) hosts Southern Cayuga Wednesday.

JV SOFTBALL

Skaneateles 12, Bishop Grimes 1

SKANEATELES - Emily Ross tossed a no-hitter and struck out 11 as the Lakers cruised to victory.

Offensively, Britton Webber led Skaneateles with two hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Jessica Mevec and Jackie Stucker each contributed two hits for the Lakers.

Skaneateles (7-3) plays Jordan-Elbridge today.
