A professional acting troupe, The Actors Speakeasy, founded in 2005, by Michelle Foytek, and James and Jessica Cantu, drives into Auburn this weekend with its exciting premier of James McClure's “The 1959 Pink Thunderbird Convertible.”
McClure#'s piece takes audiences back in time to the small town of Maynard, Texas, after the main character Roy's two year tour in Vietnam. Told through two emotionally charged one-act plays, “Laundry and Bourbon” and “Lone Star,” this dark comedy is retold and transformed into a poignant production, tied together by the small town's hero, his inner transformations and of course, his true love, a 1959 pink Thunderbird convertible.
“The 1959 Pink Thunderbird Convertible” debuts at 8 p.m. April 28 and 29, and 2 p.m. April 30, at the Absolute Dance Studios, Genesee Street in Auburn Due to language, the production is recommended for ages 18 and over. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.
