Scipio to hold a clean-up day
A cleanup day exclusively for Scipio residents will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13. No truckloads of construction debris, or mattresses, tires, refrigerators, freezers or batteries will be allowed.
Sign-in will be required upon arrival. Special bins are for items too large to be bagged. The scrap metal roll-off is for metal exclusively. Household trash is to be bagged and tagged as usual.
County declares task force examination
Seneca County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bob Shipley has announced the creation of an executive task force to examine the structure and makeup of Seneca County government. The task force will examine all levels of county government, including the county manager system, and will look for ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
The first meeting open to the public is 7 p.m. Monday, May 8, in the Hero's Conference Room at the Seneca County office building. The task force will report back to the full board of supervisors on necessary recommendations.
Creekside Books to host fundraiser
Creekside Books & Gifts is hosting a fundraiser Wednesday, April 26, for the Odyssey of the Mind team in Skaneateles heading to the world finals next month in Ames, Iowa.
An evening of music featuring numerous artists will benefit the State Street Elementary School Tech Transfer Team.
The team earned the trip to Iowa with their performance at the state finals in Binghamton earlier this year.
Wednesday's program, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m., will help covers costs of the team's travel to the University of Iowa for the competition.
Creekside is located across from the P&C grocery store at 35 Fennell St.
Sheriff to appear on ‘Inside Government'
Cayuga County Sheriff Rob Outhouse will be a guest on the public access program “Inside Government with Guy Cosentino” at 7 p.m. Thursday on Adelphia's Channel 11.
Outhouse will discuss renovations at the Cayuga County Jail, the juvenile driver STOPPED program and his campaign for re-election.
Following the half-hour interview with Outhouse, Carey Eidel and Brian Anderson, collaborators in the Auburn Public Theater, will discuss the renovation of the former Grant's Department Store, the goals of the theater and the future of downtown Auburn. That portion of the show will run at 7:30 p.m.
Both shows are an encore presentation from shows taped Tuesday afternoon by Cayuga Community College telecommunications students.
