In three weeks, students at Wells College will be busy studying for finals.
But before they have to buckle down, they also get a chance to spend a week celebrating spring.

Between concerts, comedians, talent shows and bonfires, students had an eventful week that ended with an outdoor party held in the Sommer Center Saturday.

“There has been a lot of really fun stuff going on all week,” said Leslie Gaige, co-director of the student programming board.

“We have three weeks of school left before finals and this is a great way to relax and have fun.”

Though it rained all afternoon, that didn't stop students, as well as the Aurora community, from enjoying music by Bottom Feeders, John Rush, lll Natural and InPulse while they browsed the many vendor tables, games and activities.

John Simons of Strike a Pose in Skaneateles was on hand to help guests capture the day with an instant collage of photos complete with a frame ready for decoration.

“Some of the kids write silly things on the frames and send them home to parents,” Simons said.

The school's own clubs showed their support with booths of their own for guests to enjoy.

Making sure that guests had a responsible good time was the goal of the school group called W.A.S.T.E.D. (Wells Active Students Teaching Effective Decision-Making).

Its members were busy handing out plastic Easter eggs filled with safe sex products, and a non-alcohol drink called Virgin Flamingo.

“It's just really a lot of fun,” said Stephanie Nye, a junior at the school. “It is great to just hang out with friends and have fun.”

Nye, along with Ashley Tinklepaugh, attended many of the activities throughout the weeklong celebration and said that they planned to attend the fireworks display that was scheduled to follow the party.

The Spring Weekend Party, which was titled “That Spring You Do,” is an annual event held by the school.

It is organized by the school's programming board.
