SCHENECTADY - A man was arrested Friday in connection with the death of his grandmother, whose body had been discovered just hours earlier in their home, police said.
Marlene Hill, 75, was apparently killed in the bedroom of her Schenectady apartment, police said. Her body was found at 12:15 p.m. underneath mattresses that had been turned over on top of her, said police Lt. Pete Frisoni.
Nicholas Paniccia, 20, was arrested just four hours later at the Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany, where he was trying to check himself in, police said.
Police wouldn't confirm how Hill died, but said Paniccia could be armed with a knife when they issued a news bulletin in search of him earlier in the afternoon.
