ELBRIDGE - The Skaneateles girls lacrosse team showed why they are the defending state champions Monday in a 14-3 win over Jordan-Elbridge.

The Lakers maintained an aggressive approach throughout the game, and at held a 9-2 lead at halftime.
Skaneateles' Whitney Johnson returned from ACL surgery and made seven saves for Skaneateles. Gigi Vaughn had four stops.
Stephanie Rice led the Lakers with five goals and one assist and Libby Johnson had three goals and one assist.
“We did very well and we are improving every game,” Skaneateles coach Bridget Marquardt said. “If we continue to improve and play like this, we are going to be fine.”
Also scoring for the Lakers were Kelsey Nangle (one goal, one assist), Katie Schoener (one goal), Shannon Tierney (two goals) and Jessica Haswell (two goals, one assist). Margaret Shanley had two assists.
The win is Skaneateles' third ina row (3-1) and they will play Wilton Thursday. The Eagles drop to 1-3 and host Westhill (1-1) Wednesday.
Teri Noll led the Eagles with two goals and Kaitlin Fuller scored one. Goalie Erica Troia had two saves, and Alicia Olmstead had 10 in the second half.
“Skaneateles was awesome,” Demuth said. “They were aggressive and just took the game over.”
