A Moravia woman is facing charges after she took police on a chase that ended with a state trooper being injured in a crash.
Eileen Hagin, 39, of State Route 38, Moravia, was charged with driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations following a pursuit that injured Hagin and a state trooper late Wednesday night.
Auburn Police Department Lt. David DelFavero said that Hagin had crashed her car into a telephone pole on State Street around 11 p.m. Wednesday. According to the police report, a witness subsequently tried to see if Hagin was OK, and attempted to get the keys away from her, DelFavero said, but Hagin got back into the car and drove south on State Street.
The Auburn Police Department pursued Hagin, and state Trooper Patricia Indelicato, who was patrolling Dunning Avenue in the town of Fleming, assisted after she was advised by Cayuga County 911 that the pursuit was occurring and the suspect's vehicle passed her, according to a press release from the state police.
During the pursuit, Hagin's vehicle struck Indelicato's patrol car in the rear, causing substantial damage to both vehicles and ending the pursuit, the report said.
Hagin was taken into custody by Auburn police. Both Hagin and Indelicato sustained minor injuries and were treated and released from Auburn Memorial Hospital, the report said.
