If the first game of the season was any indication, the Tully girls lacrosse team would have put up a fight against Skaneateles.

The defending state champion Lakers lost a 12-6 match to West Genesee last Friday and on Saturday, Tully blanked New Hartford 16-0 in their season opener.
But at Cicero-North Syracuse High School on Tuesday, the Lakers defeated the Black Knights 16-2. Midfielder Libby Johnson scored the Lakers' first goal 1:30 into the game and it was downhill from there for Tully.
The score was 12-0 at the half, but the Black Knights managed to score right off the bat with 19:07 to go in the second half and again with less than a minute left in the game.
“We moved the ball really well, and after the loss to West Genessee, we were working on our passing and catching, and tonight we did both really well,” Skaneateles coach Bridget Marquardt said. “It's starting to come together.”
Gigi Vaughn had a quiet but productive night in the net with three saves and Heather Mullen had one.
Kelsey Nangle (three goals, two assists), Laura Trenti (two goals), Johnson (two goals, six assists), Jessica Haswell (two goals), Margaret Shanley (one goal), Jenna Lotkowitz (one goal) and Amy Riehlman (one goal) all played well for the Skaneateles. Stephanie Rice led the team with four goals.
“Stephanie is a good playmaker for us,” Marquardt said. “She gets all over the field and she is great at taking draws and getting draws. She has been good at checking the stick as well. She and Libby connected for a couple of goals tonight.”
The Lakers (1-1) travel to play Bishop Ludden on Thursday.
