WATKINS GLEN - Despite wins in two singles matches, the Moravia tennis team lost their season opener to Watkins Glen 4-3 on Wednesday.
Brian Morrison lost the first singles match 2-6, 4-6. Tom Swann won the second 6-4, 6-2 while Samantha Lorah lost the third singles in a close 6-4, 4-6, 3-6 match. Amber LaFever won the fourth singles 6-3, 6-4.
In the doubles, Heather Dwyer and Kalan Morey lost in three sets in the first match 6-1, 5-7, 4-6. Vanessa Lloyd and Ellen Olshewski dominated the second doubles match with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win but Emilee Greene and Kelly Lloyd lost the third doubles match 3-6, 4-6.
“I thought we did well and played pretty good at times,” Blue Devils coach John Mastropietro said.
Moravia (0-1) will host Thomas Edison on Monday.
