Committee seeks Port Byron photos
As part of the National Preservation Month, the Port Byron/Mentz Revitalization Committee is sponsoring a community photo album project.
The committee is asking present and past residents, or anyone who might have photographs taken in the village of Port Byron or the town of Mentz, to bring them at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, to the Town Offices, 14 Mentz Drive, Port Byron. The photographs will be scanned into a computer and then given back to the owner.
The committee is seeking all photographs taken of the village structures and streetscapes. Some of the photographs will be used on the Cayuga County Genweb page, a resource for genealogists. All of the pictures will be included on a community photo album CD and made available at the Port Byron Library and Cayuga County Historian Office.
For more details, contact Michael Riley at 776-5116 or e-mail mmriley@tds.net.
