Special service to mark Annunciation
In observance of the Annunciation, special festivities are planned today at St. Francis of Assisi and St. Mary's churches.

The Rev. Peter DeBellis, pastor at St. Francis Church, will inaugurate the morning's celebration with prayers at 9 a.m. Immediately following this brief service, there will be a procession to St. Mary's Church for Mass at 10 a.m. This liturgical parade will be accompanied by percussionists from Tyburn Academy. It will proceed from St. Francis Church to Columbus Street, east on Orchard to James Street then back to Clark Street and St. Mary's Church.

Pancake breakfast to benefit Tyburn

Tyburn Academy pancake breakfast will be held at the Knights of Columbus on Market Street from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, to benefit Tyburn student activities. Cost to adults is $5 and children under 10 are $3.

Church sponsors book discussion

The United Church of Genoa is sponsoring a book discussion at Linda's Diner, Route 34 N. Lansing, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

“The Secret Life of Bees,” by Sue Monk Kidd, will be the topic of discussion led by the Rev. Larry Bell.

Spring bazaar set at St. Joseph's School

St. Joseph's School Spring Bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1. The event will include food, raffles and a children's room.

Supper, speak on tap in Scipio

Sister Grace Miller will speak after a soup supper at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Scipioville Presbyterian Church, Route 34B, Scipioville.

Miller, who ministers to the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, an outreach center in Rochester's inner city, speaks on “Standing Up for Our Faith: The Role of Conscientious Objection and Civil Disobedience.”

The event is free and open to the public. The talk begins about 5:45 p.m. It's part of the 2006 Wider Parish Lenten program, sponsored by the seven churches that comprise the interdenominational Wider Parish of Southern Cayuga County. Call 364-5110 for details.

St. Luke's holds rummage sale

St. Luke's United Church of Christ will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the church, 25 Seminary St., Auburn.

The fundraiser is sponsored by the Women's Organizations for various church projects.

St. Mary's Church to serve pasta April 4

The next St. Mary's Pasta Dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. April 4, at St. Mary's Church on Clark Street in Auburn (go to the right hand side entrance of the church toward the back). Adults are $6 and children under 12 at $4. Eat-in or take-out is available.

Camp Gregory in Aurora is an independent, locally supported, Christian children's camp located on Cayuga Lake.

Each summer they offer programs for children in grades 1 to 9 in arts and crafts, nature, swimming, drama, canoeing, hiking, music, dance, sports and recreation, team-building and much more.

Dates for camp are July 10 through Aug. 4. Contact Julie Schneider, registrar, at 364-8236 for information and applications.
