Seward House receives donation

A second-floor gallery at the Seward House in Auburn can be better preserved this spring, thanks to a donation of archival matting and backing board from Nielson and Bainbridge. The makers of archival mats and frames gave 100 sheets of Alpharag mat and backing board to the museum, so staff and volunteers can unframe, remat and replace preservation materials in the diplomatic gallery.

The gallery - a collection of prints, engravings and photographs displayed on the museum's second floor - hung in Seward's Washington, D.C., home during his years as U.S. Secretary of State (1861-1869). Seward relocated the collection to Auburn upon his retirement.

MGR Playhouse revamps website

One of the largest youth theaters has revamped its Web site. The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse is inviting educators and the general public to take a virtual tour of its youth theater by exploring its new Web site at www.merry-go-round.com.

Logging on also allows visitors to explore the theater's Sequential Dramatics Program. The web site's newest features include downloadable copies of the company's educational resource guides; copies of the theater's “report cards” - an evaluative tool with which the theater has compiled teacher feedback; and the “featured student artists” page, which highlights samples of student work from month to month.
