Combine some McMagic with the “Wright Stuff” and it equals a Big East Conference Tournament championship for Syracuse.
Area fans have been holding their breath with every shot as Syracuse made its way through an improbable and magnificent four-day run in Manhattan.
Josh Wright made four straight free throws in the final 20 seconds Saturday night to help lead the underdog Syracuse University men's basketball team its second straight Big East tournament title.
“Everybody pulled together and it's unbelievable to see Josh Wright go to the free-throw line and make those four free throws,” said Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim. “That was the greatest thing about this game.”
Syracuse's Gerry McNamara had the “Right Stuff” as the senior won the tournament MVP award. McNamara, was drained, as the Orange won a grueling fourth game in four days.
Local fans can now look forward to the NCAA Tournament. The Orange will find out where they're going in today's draw.
