Pre-K program to start in Port Byron
The Port Byron Central School District will again offer a half day universal pre-kindergarten program to eligible district resident children in 2006-07. To participate, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1. The district will mail applications to known eligible children#'s families March 17. Families who have not received an application by March 24 should contact the elementary office at

Schweinfurth starts needlework again
A needlework group will be revived at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center beginning Thursday,
March 16.
“Needle Nights” will be held 7 to 9 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at the museum at 205 Genesee St., Auburn. No experience is necessary to participate. Needle art of any choice also is welcome.
Ice show to take audience to movies
The Skaneateles Figure Skating Club ice show, Ice Dreams 2006 “Let's Go to the Movies,” will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 31, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the W.G. Allyn Ice Arena in the Skaneateles Community Center. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and free for children under 5. The annual event showcases area skaters of all ages and skill levels. Music features theme songs from popular movies.
Students have full day off March 17
Friday, March 17 will be a full-day staff development for K-12 for schools in Port Byron, Auburn, Jordan-Elbridge, Moravia, Skaneateles, Southern Cayuga, Union Springs, Weedsport and Cato-Meridian. There will be no school on that day.
