HIT: Cato-Meridian wrestler Jason Brown won the New York State Wrestling Championship at 215 pounds.
The title is a first for Cato-Meridian and came during Brown's first trip to the championship round.
Brown won four bouts during the weekend tournament and finished his senior year with a record of 36 wins and one loss. Brown credits his family, school and the area's wrestling community for giving him the support needed to succeed and said he hopes more younger people might now be inspired to try the sport.
HIT: Auburn High School senior Felicia Onori is preparing for her big moment on national television.
Onori will have her long hair cut off during Wednesday's edition of the “Today” show. Along with the show's news anchor, Ann Curry, Onori will be donating her long hair to Locks of Love, an organization that provides wigs to children with hair loss due to medical problems.
MISS: Cayuga County has a higher adult illiteracy rate than the national average, with 19 percent of adults unable to comprehend basic written instructions or understand the directions on their prescription medications.
An additional struggled for many of these people is the inability to earn more money by landing jobs that require basic reading and writing skills.

Volunteer literacy coaches work with people who left school at an early age and others who are learning English as a second language. Additionally, the Center for Learning, a program of Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, offers literacy training to adult learners hoping to earn their GEDs.
