Baseball bats seem to be the city of Auburn's weapon of choice this week.
An Auburn man was arrested Tuesday morning for taking an aluminum baseball bat to the rear window of a 1996 Dodge Stratus parked on Osborne Street.
Joshua D. Taro, 28, of 137 Osborne St., first called the owner of the vehicle to warn her he wanted her to leave the area, Auburn Police Department Deputy Chief Thomas Murphy said. He called four minutes, and then 3 1/2 minutes, in a countdown before smashing the car window with the Louisville Slugger-brand bat, Murphy added.
Taro has been charged with the felony crime of third-degree crminal mischief.
It is the second Auburn city felony arrest involving a baseball bat within a week.
Allen M. Clark, 27, of Waterloo, was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 21, on the allegation he hit another man over the head with a baseball bat while the receipt for the purchase of a new baseball bat was still in his pocket. He was charged with the felony crime of second-degree assault and the misdemeanor crime of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
