Basketball program begins March 20

There will be a March Madness basketball program for girls in grades five through eight at Auburn's West Middle School from March 20 through April 7.

The cost of the program is $20. Deadline to register is March 6.

YMCA hosting

lifeguarding class

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU will be holding a lifeguard certification class from March 2 to 25. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The course will include CPR, first aid, AED, oxygen administration and waterfront lifeguarding.

Youth lacrosse league at YMCA

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is hosting a seven-week youth boys lacrosse instructional league starting March 4.

The league will introduce participants to the sport with emphasis on skill development and sportsmanship.

Registration deadline is Monday, Feb. 27 and participants must supply their own equipment.

The program is $30 for Y-members and $60 for the general public.

Softball pitching clinic on Feb. 27

The Auburn softball pitching clinic will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb 27 at West Middle School.

Girls in grades three to eight can participate. Pitchers must bring a glove, sneakers and someone to catch for them.

Champions for Life offering open gym

Champions for Life Sports Center is offering a “Winter Break Open Gym” that will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 23 and 24.

The cost is $3 for non-members and $2 for members. A weekly open gym is also offered every Friday night until June 28.

YMCA hosting free scuba experience

The Auburn YMCA is offering a free scuba pool experience from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 24.

Participants must bring their own swimsuit and towel and will be provided with scuba equipment.

Signups set for Babe Ruth baseball

Registrations for Auburn Babe Ruth League baseball will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 27, March 27 and April 24 at the Knights of Columbus.

Registration fee is $115 and $50 for raffle tickets. Each player will be required to sell 10 raffle tickets.
