Girls' achievements to be recognized
The Pre-Teen New York Scholarship & Recognition Program, a national scholarship program for pre-teen girls, is now accepting applications for its 2006 awards.
Judges will select two winners from each age group (7-9 and 10-12), based on seven evaluation categories, none of which are based on outward appearance or physical attributes. Rather, criteria include academic achievement; community service; school honors and activities; development of personal skills and abilities; general knowledge, communicative ability and on-stage acknowledgment of accomplishments.
The program will acknowledge participants for outstanding achievements in each category.
Each participant's school will receive a certificate of achievement and a letter notifying them of their student's selection, participation and awards.
Anyone interested can obtain and submit applications via the Pre-Teen America Scholarship and Recognition Program Web site, www.preteenamerica.com. Call (225) 752-6015 or e-mail info@preteenamerica.com for more information.
Recommendations from families, educators or community leaders for young ladies are also welcome. Forms can be found on the Web site.
