Moravia ousted in first playoff round
Jake Wood led the Moravia boys basketball team with 11 points in a 51-33 loss against Bainbridge-Guilford in Section IV Class C tournament play.

The Blue Devils were without their leader Mike Marr after he turned his ankle on Saturday during practice, but coach Butch McGuerty wasn't about to let his team use that as an excuse, even after they were down 30-9 at the half.

“We played like we were looking for a leader the entire first half, but I challenged them in the locker room during halftime,” McGuerty said.

“I told them that this game wasn't a one-person effort, it was an entire team effort.”

The Blue Devils seemed to hear McGuerty as they outscored Bainbridge-Guilford 24-21 in the second half. Marr's replacement, Chris Schillawski, played well by scoring nine points.

“We knew we had to pick ourselves up after the first half,” McGuerty said. “Am I disappointed in the loss? Yes. Am I disappointed in this team? No. We had a good season and I'm proud of these guys.”
