Four men reportedly assaulted a father over his son's personal relationship.
According to Auburn police, Bruce Jones was attacked Tuesday night by Robert Bell Sr., Robert Bell Jr., Mark LaFramboise and a fourth unidentified man. The fight started because Bell disapproved of the relationship Jones' son was having with a relative of Bell. Police responded to a fight in progress at 11:20 p.m. at 83 Owasco St. in Auburn.

When police arrived at the scene, there were approximately 12-15 people involved in the altercation, some with injuries.

Police determined that the initial incident occurred in Apartment No. 2 of 83 Owasco St.

Robert G. Bell, 42, Apt. No. 1, 78 Owasco St., was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree harassment; Robert G. Bell, 20, same address, third-degree assault; Mark B LaFramboise, 21, of 4 Arnold St., Union Springs, third-degree assault; Bruce L. Jones, 47, of Apt. No. 1, 83 Owasco St., disorderly conduct and resisting arrest; Daniel Jones, same address, second-degree obstructing government administration (he attempted to attack the officer arresting his father); and Kenneth J. LaFramboise, 23, of 86 Owasco St., second-degree aggravated harassment, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant in an unrelated matter.

Jones suffered lacerations of his face, significant swelling and bruising, and he was treated at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Mark LaFramboise was also treated for a head injury when Jones hit him in the head with a dumbbell. That was determined to be self-defense.
