Geneseo honors Weedsport's Hinman
Swimmer Josh Hinman (Weedsport) is a SUNY Geneseo student-athlete of the week for February 6 to 12.
A senior sociology major, Hinman led the Blue Wave to their eighth straight SUNYAC title by winning the 100 and 200 butterfly, being part of the school-record setting 400 medley relay and aiding the 200 medley and 800 free relay teams to second-place finishes.
Geneseo's Jerry Hinman (Weedsport) was part of the winning 200 free relay in an NCAA provisional time of 1:24.48.
Wayne finishes fourth for Knights
The SUNY Geneseo women's swimming and diving team travelled to Erie Community College in Buffalo for the SUNYAC swimming and diving championships and finished fourth with 510 points.
Senior Colleen Wayne (Auburn) swam to a fourth-place time of 25.21 in the 50 free.
Cato-Meridian girls lose final game
Rachel Vanorstrand led the Cato-Meridian girls basketball team with eight points in a 36-29 loss to Onondaga on Monday.
Whitney Blanchard also chipped in with six points in the Blue Devils' final game of the season. The Blue Devils were up 15-14 at the half, but missed free throws in the fourth quarter hurt them, Cato-Meridian was 3 of 12 from the line.
The Blue Devils finish the season 1-18.
Foul-shooting
contest next weekend
The Auburn CYO will hold a foul-shooting contest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Feb. 18 at St. Hyacinth Gym on Pulaski Street.
All CYO players and coaches are welcome.
YMCA offering youth swim lessons
The Auburn YMCA is offering swim lessons for ages 6 months to 5 years of age. Lessons run over seven weeks and begin the week of Feb. 20.
Registrations for members of the YMCA and the general public are now open. For more information, contact Jennifer Dalziel at 253-5304.

Registration for Little League baseball will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at Seward Elementary School.

Kids Sandlot baseball will have open registration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 11 at the Fingerlakes Mall.

The YMCA-WEIU Hitting League begins Feb. 18, and will run for seven weeks.
The baseball league is available for youth ages 8-18. Expert instruction will prepare participants for the upcoming season. The fee is $30 for Y-members and $60 for the general public.
The registration deadline is Feb. 17. For more information, call the YMCA at 253-5304.
