The Lakers won two relays and finished second in another, as the team earned 46 points. After 13 events, they ranked third in Class B/C/D, behind Chittenango's 48 points and Westhill's 80.
Senior Talia Rooney led the 4x400-meter relay team to victory with a time of 4:13.94 and was also part of the second-place 4x200-meter team. She also earned her team points by finishing fourth in the 600-meter run.
Teammate Rachel Vaivoda led the 4x800-meter relay team, which ran two freshmen, to victory. Vaivoda also finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run.
Fellow Lakers Leeann Glocker and Hannah Waite finished in fifth and sixth in the 55-meter dash.
Waite also placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run.
Skaneateles led the team standings with 22 points after five events, but were then overtaken by the final leaders.
Cazenovia also passed Skaneateles midway through the meet, but the victories in relays moved Skaneateles above Cazenovia again. Cazenovia was in fourth place with 37 points after 13 events.
Elsewhere in Class B/C/D, Sherburne-Earlville's Adriane Marcellus won the 600-meter run with a time of 1:38.67. S-E senior Ashlee Lathrop gave the Marauders another victory in the shot put, with a distance of 36-9.0.
Jordan Elbridge senior Ingrid Forward finished fourth in that event.
Altmar-Parrish-Williamston also had several competitors earn points. Junior Jennifer Pernisi finished second in the 1,500-meter run and third in the 1,000-meter run.
In Class A, Cicero-North Syracuse ran away with 118 points thru 13 events, followed by Liverpool with 80.
Auburn earned just five points, placing 10th.
That was to be expected though, said Maroons' head coach Eliezer Hernandez.
“The reality is that this is the final meet for the girls, it was about the races they wanted to run,” Hernandez said.
“All I expected was personal bests.”
Senior Katelyn Felter earned the Maroons their first points of the meet by tying for fourth place in the pole vault, with a throw of 7-6.00.
The team's 4x800-meter relay then finished in fifth.
Hernandez was pleased with the placement considering Felter has been battling shin splints all season.
Still, the team leader managed to earn points in all but one meet this season.
“When you don't have an indoor facility to train in,” Hernandez said, “you constantly take a pounding, but she has always tried to fight through it.”
The girls return to Manley Field House on Thursday for the state-meet qualifier.
The state meet is March 4 at Cornell University at Ithaca.
