The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office is investigating how a Victory woman wound up unconscious and bleeding from her mouth at her Brandt Road home.
Sheriff Rob Outhouse said Anna J. Gunton, 52, appeared to sustain injuries. She is now in critical condition at University Hospital in Syracuse.
The sheriff's office is executing a search warrant at the residence at 2141 Brandt Road. State police forensic specialists are assisting with the case.
Outhouse said the case stemmed from a 911 call Monday afternoon from a man describing Gunton as a possible stroke victim.
People with information that may help the investigation are asked to call the sheriff's office at 253-1222 or 253-1610.
