For one Auburn company, the building was too small. For another, it offered the additional space desperately needed.
The result was the recent sale of the former Cayuga Glass Co. building at 107 Osborne St.
Horizon Contracting owner Michael Grillo has purchased the building for $85,000 from Randy Knapp of Knapp Electric. Horizon, which does painting and environmental demolition work in a large territory that extends outside New York state, has already moved to the new property.
Grillo was eager to find a property that would allow him to keep his business in Auburn.
“We work in many states across the country, but this is ‘home',” he said in a press release. “It was wonderful to find a building to accommodate our operation and allow our headquarters to be at home.#”
Horizon, formerly called Empire Environmental Services, employs 15 full-time workers.
Knapp Electric had outgrown the 3,600-square-foot building and moved to a larger space on North Street.
John F. Bouck, president of Bouck Real Estate, brokered the sale. He was excited to see the Cayuga Glass Co. space continue as the home for a local business.
“This commercial property has been an important part of the city of Auburn and its neigh-
borhood for many years, and
we#'re happy to see it continue in a similar use that shows
such confidence in the city,#” he said.
