Dodgeball deadline

is today at YMCA

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is offering its first Youth Dodgeball Tournament at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29.

Two age division are offered, 11-14 and 15-17.

All teams must register six players and the fee is $20 per team. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 27. For more information, contact Angel Caci at 253-5304.

YMCA offering free trial soccer class

The YMCA is offering a free trial class Jan. 8 for the Cayuga Soccer Academy. Under-6 is scheduled for 1 p.m., under-8 at 2 p.m., under-10 at 3 p.m. and under 12 at 4 p.m.

The next six-week session begins Jan. 15.

Winter Great Race being held Jan. 29

The 28th Annual Great Winter Race will take place Jan. 29. The traditional or short course is available to skate, run, ski and snowshoe.

Race Across America sign-ups start Jan. 11

Sign-ups for the Race Across the USA begin Wed., Jan. 11.

Walkers, joggers and runners of all abilities are encouraged to sign up and accumulate mileage for their assigned team in a race to see who gets to Auburn, Calif. first.

Champions For Life offering open gym

Champions for Life Sports Center will be offering a holiday open gym during this week.

Sessions will be Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon for all ages.

For ages 10 and under, sessions will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and from 7:30 to 9 p.m. for ages 11 and up.

The cost is $3 for non-members and $2 for members.

Beginning Jan. 6, there will be open gym every Friday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for ages 10 and under and from 8:30 to 10 p.m. for ages 11 and up. For more information, call 252-9305.

Swim lessons to start next week

The Auburn YMCA is offering youth swim lessons for ages six months to 5 years, swim lessons for youth ages 6 to 15 years and a winter session of aquatics classes. Lessons go for seven weeks and begin the week of Jan. 2.

Registrations for now open for Y members and the general public. All lessons stress water safety, proper stroke techniques, shallow diving and correct breathing.

Karate classes offered at YMCA

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is offering karate classes for Y-members and the general public.

Adult and youth classes meet Tuesday and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m.
