Q &A: Jessica Pattington
As their senior year comes to a close, not all high school students are filling out applications and seeking teacher recommendations. Some are taking the fast track to a career, like Jessica Pattington, who is pursuing a career as a model in Manhattan. This is what she has to say about her plans:

Q. What are you doing after high school?

A. I am planning on either going to Barbizon Modeling School, or to New York City to try to start a modeling career there.

Q. What got you interested in that career choice?

A. Since I was little, people have always told me that I should be a model, because I'm so tall and skinny. Recently, I have been in (Auburn High student) Eric DiMatteo's fashion shows, and I have really enjoyed them. They have further influenced my decision.

Q. Are you considering college at all?

A. Well, I really haven't applied anywhere yet. I am in the process of applying to Barbizon. Unlike other schools, you can't just fill out an application online.

Q. Have you ever thought about trying out for “America's Next Top Model?”

A. Definitely! I have seen it every season, and I love it. I wanted to try out for it last year, but I wasn't old enough. If I can find a spot to audition, I totally will.

Q. Do you have any models that you look up to?

A. I really idolize Paris Hilton. She is just so pretty, and such a great model. I also have a lot of respect for Tyra Banks, because she had to go through a lot in order to be who she is today. I really admire how she stuck to her morals and didn't give up on her dreams.

Q. What type of modeling do you want to pursue?

A. My dream is to be a runway model. As corny as it sounds, I've been working on my “model walk” for years.

Q. Have you had any experience in the modeling field?

A. So far, I have been in two of Eric DiMatteo's fashion shows, one for a fund-raiser at Willard Chapel. and one at the high school for the talent show. I look forward to doing more in the future.

Q. Do you have any friends who are interested in modeling?

A. Yes. Actually, one of my good friends, Randy, is interested in modeling. In the last few months he has begun to put together his portfolio.

Q. If you do end up becoming a model, do you plan on creating your own clothing line? If so, what style would it be?

A. Well, I love clothes and that's no secret. I probably would design a clothing line. As for style, it would be something fresh and original, with lots of funky colors. I love things that are out of the ordinary.

Q. Do you plan on following your talents further into other fields?

A. Well, most models are finished modeling by age 30, so I suppose I should start thinking ahead. I have always enjoyed acting in plays and musicals, so that's always a possibility. If not, I will probably go to college.

Q. What do you want to be known for in the future?

A. I don't really know, to tell you the truth. I mean, I don't want to become one of those conceited models who think the world revolves around them. I want to stay grounded, always stick to my morals, and remember where I came from.
