Flu shots available to public Thursday
The Cayuga County Health Department will hold a public flu shot clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday in the basement of the Cayuga County Office Building, 160 Genesee St., Auburn. Those eligible for Medicare Part B should bring their Medicare card, and the department will bill Medicare for the vaccine. Otherwise, the shot is $30.

Local officials to air on cable channel

Newly elected city and Cayuga County government officials will appear 7 p.m. Thursday on “Inside Government,” a program that airs on Adelphia Cable channel 11. Auburn city councilors-elect William Graney and Matthew Smith, as well as legislators-elect Linda Murphy and Dan Schuster, will discuss their campaigns, the transition into office and short-term goals.

At 7:30 p.m., “Beyond the Front Page” features assistant superintendent Camille Johnson of Auburn, who will talk about gaps in educational testing and the state's report on dropout rates.

Pair brings PAST

to local coffee shop

The PAST (Poets, Authors & Story Tellers) Series continues this week at Yesteryears Coffee House & Cafe, 24 State St., with local bookbinder Jim Meyer and retired educator Jim Hughes. The event, which begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, is free and open to the public.

Hughes is a photographer and writer whose work has appeared in various publications, including Country Living. Hughes will tell stories and speak about his hobbies.

Meyer will have available his new book, a reissue of the 1970s publication called “City of Auburn: The Future Began Here.”
