Intensive road patrol to start today
Cayuga County law enforcement agencies began their annual November ramped-up patrol and checkpoint efforts today. The intensive week-long road patrol focus is held statewide as law enforcement agencies set up checkpoints and post several patrols cars in one area to find motorists breaking basic safety rules of the road.
The Auburn Police Department, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office and area state police will participate in this week's saturation patrols. They will be checking that motorists are buckling up, not using their cell phones without head sets and have valid vehicle inspections.
The APD alone wrote 400 tickets during last year's November intensive patrol period. The road check efforts end Sunday, Nov. 27.
Thanksgiving
